The Emptiness of the I

There is no greater method for experiencing peace of mind and happiness than to understand and meditate on emptiness, the true nature of reality. The most significant meditation is the emptiness of our self- or I because our worry, anxiety and our insecurities are based on mistaken apprehensions of ourselves.

In this morning course Gen Chodor will explain how we can learn to recognize, reduce and eventually abandon the mind of ego-grasping that is the source of all our daily problems, how to practically apply Buddha’s teachings on emptiness to find peace in our daily life. With this wisdom, we can begin to change the way in which we think about ourself, others and our world. We will be able to live in the world without grasping at ourself so strongly. We will treat things lightly and have the flexibility of mind to respond to every situation in a constructive way.

Gen Chodor is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center in Sarasota. Ordained in 2001, he is a close disciple of Geshe-la and has studied and practiced Buddhism for many years. He is much loved for his relaxed and gentle nature and teaches with great clarity, insight and wisdom, skillfully guiding people to inner peace and happiness in their lives.
