| Vajrapani Buddhist Center is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) and is closely affiliated with Parbawatiya Center, as well as our other centers in Florida, Kadampa Meditation Center, Drolma, and Samudrabadra. |
 |
The spiritual director and the founder of the center is Venerable
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso who out of loving kindness and compassion has devoted his life to making Buddha's pure teachings accessible to the modern world. Geshe-la, as he is affectionately called by his students, is a fully accomplished meditation master and
renowned teacher of Buddhism.
In 1977 he was invited to teach in England. Since arriving in the West, Geshe-la has given immaculate teachings on Kadampa Buddhism in Europe and North America, and published a series of 21 remarkable books on Buddhist thought and meditation. |
|
The goal of the center is to provide an opportunity for people of all religions and backgrounds to experience meditation and its fruits in a form that reflects the needs and customs of our culture. Because of Geshla's kindness we have a unique opportunity to present this
tried and tested tradition in a form especially tailored to the western mindset. With this end in mind New Kadampa Centers offer three levels of Buddhist courses based on books which Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has translated and prepared especially for westerners.

All Kadampa Buddhist Centers are non-profit and thus established and maintained entirely through the efforts of their local communities, receiving no
government support. It is Geshla's wish that the tradition remains free of political biases or affiliations. We are proud to say that
each of the centers is a reflection of the effort and needs of its community.
Beyond the training classes, the centers also offer beautiful chanted meditations, and monthly workshops that are opportunities to
explore a particular topic at depth or learn new skills. Throughout the year various centers in Florida grant empowerments which
provide a chance for the Florida Buddhist community to meet and receive blessings in a beautiful ceremony by making a deeper
connection with a particular Buddha. |
| the International Kadampa Buddhist Union (IKBU) of the New Kadampa Tradition also organizes International Buddhist Festivals in Spring, Summer, and Fall which are
held at the Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in England and in other international cities each year. In addition various National Festivals are also held around the U.S.
allowing for families to enjoy a spiritual vacation. |
